Lakad lakad lang
Lakad Lakad Lang, 2025. This series of murals was created for Wild Siargao in collaboration with the Searchmindscape Foundation. The works explore Filipino mythology, cultural symbolism, and the rhythmic movement of Baybayin-inspired forms.
The mural on the expo stand incorporates a repeating motif inspired by the jade vine flower, creating a flowing ornamental border around the structure. Patterned Baybayin script spelling “lakad lakad lang” moves across the surface, echoing the philosophy of steady movement and trust in one’s journey.
The imagery also introduces characters drawn from Filipino folklore and cosmology, including a Kapre wearing a salakot, a three-eyed Asog/Babaylan figure representing spiritual knowledge, and the directional winds Amihan and Habagat. Together, these figures create a visual narrative that bridges mythology, movement, and the living cultural traditions of the Philippines.
