Fraser & 48th Plaza

Fraser & 48th Plaza, 2023 is a ground mural created for the first public plaza in South Vancouver at the intersection of Fraser Street and 48th Avenue. Developed in partnership with the Sunset on Fraser Business Improvement Association and the City of Vancouver, the work transforms the newly created public gathering space into a vibrant site for connection and community activity.

The design explores flowing Baybayin-inspired forms that move across the ground in rhythmic, organic patterns. Circular sun and light-like orbs connect the composition, symbolizing gathering points and the role of plazas as spaces where people come together. The mural brings warmth and movement to the plaza while reflecting the cultural diversity and everyday life of the Fraser Street corridor.
